The orchestra gave concerts with different conductors during the first years and was reconstructed in 1996 with the best young professional musicians. Today, it has a special place in terms of program content, dynamic structure and quality of performance.
The Akbank Chamber Orchestra gives 25 concerts a year both in Istanbul and Anatolian tours and university concerts.
Since Cem Mansur became the permanent conductor in 1998, the Akbank Chamber Orchestra has paid strict attention to the program consistency when giving concerts. This way, it has been an educating orchestra that opens new windows to its audience while hosting world famous soloists.
In addition to the concerts with certain themes, the Orchestra has played a key role in 'mini festivals' that combine global music with local culture and history in historical places: "Bach, Caz ve Lale Devri" (Aya İrini, 1998) "Alla Turca" (Tophane-i Amire, 1999) "1789, Akl-ı Selim'in Müziği" (Tophane-i Amire, 2000), "At-Nağmeler" (Istabl-ı Amire-i Ferhan, 2001) and "İstanbul'da Erguvan Zamanı" (Aya İrini, 2004).
