Akbank Art is hosting more than 700 activities a year, from exhibitions to modern dance, film shows to theater, classic music recitals to jazz concerts, panels to mastership classes for 17 years with the mission of "being the place where change never ends."

ABOUT AKBANK ART BEYOĞLU

Akbank Art Center is a prestigious institution that supports the most prominent contemporary art activities in Turkey since 1993 and has hosted many highly acclaimed events in visual arts, music, theater and dance. Akbank Sanat has established a permanent role in the cultural and artistic life in İstanbul.

Exhibitions, concerts, theatre and workshop activities, dance shows, panels, film screenings are some of these main activities that Akbank Art Center organizes in its central building in Beyoglu. Also, activities such as Akbank Jazz Festival, Akbank Chamber Orchestra, Akbank Short Film Festival, and Zeynep Tanbay Dance Project are being presented to art-lovers in different spaces around Istanbul and as well as other cities in Turkey.

Our efforts have always been guided by the approach of being 'place where change never stops.' Akbank Sanat focused its attention entirely to the contemporary arts in 2003. As a result of this restructuring and of the internal reorganization, Akbank Art Center set a new course for itself, to be İstanbul's showcase for worldwide developments in arts as well as to support Turkish artists in their international efforts, and to foster growth and development of contemporary art and gain a broader audience in Turkey.This is the new face of art in today's world: art as a platform on which individuals may engage in dialogue and influence one another.

International exhibitions take place in Akbank Art Center's Gallery. The exhibitions which have been organized, has activated dynamic qualities in local and international arena in a globalizing art world. Akbank Art Center is always seeking for improvements within arts and has become one of the most important art spaces in Istanbul. Important examples of contemporary art by world famous artists are being brought together with art-lovers through solo and collective exhibitions. Bringing outstanding works of contemporary art to art enthusiasts in Turkey, through group and personal exhibitions by world renowned artists, Akbank Art Center hosts six exhibitions every year.

Works in the field of Plastic Arts are being exhibited on the 1st Floor.

The Multi-purpose Hall is located on the 2nd Floor. The hall has a capacity of 125 persons where theater, live concerts, panels, colloquium, slide shows, conferences and DVD shows are performed.

Both lithography and serigraphy workshops are located on the Contemporary Arts Workshop on the 3rd Floor

The Music Listening Room, Library and The Café are located on the 4th Floor. The Music Listening Room, which has an archive of 1892 CD's which are composed of the best examples of the classical music primarily, jazz and film music. Nine people can select their own music and listen to it simultaneously. Additionally, library is open to everyone and consists of contemporary art books. While listening to the CD you have chosen from the CD archive, you can also enjoy reading a book at the same time. If you want, you can also go to the café and get a taste of Beyoğlu as you nip on your tea or coffee.

The Dance Studio is located on the 6th Floor. Zeynep Tanbay continues her work and activities such as workshops, open rehearsals, colloquium, video shows where young choreographs can take place beside 'Zeynep Tanbay Dance Project'.

Akbank Art Center Library and Music Listening Room are open everyday between 14:00 - 19:00, except Sundays and Mondays.
