Zeynep Tanbay Dans Projesi is celebrating its 10th year during 2009-2010 season. After the premiere of ARAZ (December 4th 2009) the first performance of the year will be staged to audiences at the two side of İstanbul. Company's new project ARAZ's will take place on March 4th 2010 at Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall. The projects second performance will take place on March 21th 2010 at Caddebostan Cultural Center.
"ARAZ"
The choreographer and the mastermind of the project is Zeynep Tanbay and the project ARAZ consists of 14 parts and 20 different dances. The music of ARAZ is mostly by Tanbay's favorite composers Philip Glass and Yann Tiersen and also music by Reich - remixed is in the project as well as two songs by Turkish musicians Burhan Öcal and Baba Zula.
With a minimalist design layout, using only body language as expression, Zaynep Tanbay's choreography focuses on adressing people, human relationships, spirit and poise and also questions political and social ideologies. Zeynep Tanbay leaves an open end to ARAZ, leaving audiences to decide what ARAZ is.
