BRUNO SERRALONGUE'S â€Øâ€ØTIME-CAPSULE'' WILL BE SHOWN AT AKBANK ART CENTER
Bruno Serralongue's exhibition "Time Capsule", curated by Ali Akay, is at Akbank Sanat between September 15th - October 28th, 2011.
One can read the presence of a gaze piercing the world and slicing through it horizontally in Bruno Serralongue's photographs as well as a desire to document. However when we take the same distance that he applies to his subjects while looking at his photographs, this stance determines his condition as much as position and begins to point at a subjectivity reaching well beyond documentation. The photographs seem to be conveying information rather than actually disclosing it. In that sense, although Bruno Serralongue's photographs carry a documentary quality, they also convey how much perspectivist this perception of his is, in presenting subjectivities. Serralongue travels from one country to another, showing us his will to look straight at the heart of the debates from within the information society. His photographs that hold a certain virtuality, waiting to be charged with a meaning, open to the future and becoming. Time awaits its future. Aspiring towards a future event or formation settles into the meaning of Serralongue's photographs.
