Akbank Jazz Festival, celebrating its 21th year this year, brings amateur jazz musicians and professional jazz musicians together to the stage through the "JAmZZ" Young Talents Competition which will be organized for the first time.
One of the first surprises of Akbank 21. Jazz Festival is: "JAmZZ" Young Talents Competition.
The project will give the opportunity for amateur young talents under 30 with no music career the chance to be a part of the festival and take to the stage together with professional musicians. Candidates who want to participate in the project can apply individually between 1 June-5 October. Applications will be received over five categories composing of "Wind", "Percussion", "Strings", "Keyed" and "Vocal"; for the pre-election of the project, candidates must submit one demo CD of their two performances, short bios, a cover letter about their music styles and one photograph by Wednesday the 5 October 2011 at the latest to the Beyoğlu address of Akbank Sanat with the subject title Akbank Jazz Festival/JAmZZ.
After the pre-election, a workshop will be held with those ranked in the "best performance", "best improvisation" and "best interpretation" categories of the competition determined by the grand jury and the talented young jazz musicians will take to the stage with professional jazz musicians at the public organization Jamzz as part of Akbank 21. Jazz Festival.
