20TH AKBANK SHORT FILM FESTIVAL HAS UNVEILEDTHE JURY MEMBERS OF NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS
The Akbank Short Film Festival, which has created a festival culture that includes art lovers of all ages, with the aim of encouraging the production of short films and supporting new filmmakers who contribute to the country's cinema, will meet with its audience for the 20th time, on March 25th - April 4th. The jury members of the national and international competitions of the festival, which will take place on both sides of the city and online this year, have been unveiled.
This year, a total of 2421 short film applications were made from Turkey and all over the world for the 20th Akbank Short Film Festival, which will be held under the direction of director and screenwriter Selim Evci.
National Competition ‘Festival Shorts’ jury members are; actress Gökçe Bahadır, director Ozan Açıktan, writer, director Erkan Kolçak Köstendil, actress Ece Dizdar and director of Akbank Sanat Derya Bigalı.
International Competition ‘World Shorts’ jury members are; director Tahmina Rafaella, actor Mehmet Günsür, casting director Viorica Capdefier, director Ali Asgari and director of Akbank Sanat Derya Bigalı.
‘Forum Script Competition’ jury members are, director Ceylan Özgün Özçelik, writer Nermin Yıldırım and actor Tansu Biçer.
The jury of the ‘Young Talents’ competition, which will be organized for the third time, initially launched to attract the interest of young people aged 20 and under to short films within the festival and to encourage productions in this field, is actress Melisa Şenolsun, producer Müge Büyüktalaş and director Sinan Kesova.
SPECIAL SCREENINGS AND TALKS
As every year, Akbank Short Film Festival will feature special screenings and interviews with the participation of masters. Award-winning director Nuri Bilge Ceylan, who is the special guest of the 20th anniversary of the festival, will meet with young cinema lovers. Nuri Bilge Ceylan said about the event: "I like watching short films, I always have, it is a free field where
personalities stand out far from commercial concerns. It is also valuable for me to be able to meet young people on the occasion of Akbank Short Film Festival."
At the same time, many valuable artists such as Iranian director Ali Asgari, director Ozan Açıktan, and documentary director Sarah Francis will share their experiences with cinema-lovers through talks.
The festival, where the Accessible Everything social initiative will also organize an event, will also include a special screening of sustainability-themed films.
The program of the 20th Akbank Short Film Festival, which includes workshops and interviews as well as "Festival Shorts", "Shorts from the World", "Young Perspectives", "Short to Long", "Experiences", "Documentary Cinema", "Perspective", "Special Screenings" and "Forum" sections, can be followed between March 25th - April 4th, 2024.
