The Akbank Short Film Festival, established in 2004 based on the pioneering and innovative role of short films within the art of cinema, is one of Turkey's most established festivals. With its renewed identity and program structure, the festival, which centers on the spirit of collective production, the potential for discovery, and new forms of expression, has created a network of viewers and filmmakers that has steadily grown over the years.
Treating short films as an original and bold field of expression, the Akbank Short Film Festival offers film enthusiasts a multi-layered program consisting of National and International Competition Selections as well as non-competition sections; featuring diverse geographies, cinematic approaches, and perspectives. The Forum: Screenplay section aims to support short films from the project stage onwards.
In addition to screenings, the festival provides a space for young filmmakers to develop their skills through talks, workshops, master classes, and industry meetings. It aims to popularize short film culture, encourage new forms of narrative, and create a sustainable cinema platform on a national and international scale.
The festival will be held for the 23rd time between March 16-24, 2027, under the motto "With Akbank Sanat, Art is Everywhere," with screenings in two cinemas and events spread throughout the city.
