Leaving an unforgettable mark on the city's musical memory for 35 years, having hosted numerous legends and opened its stage to countless young talents, the Akbank Jazz Festival will meet with music lovers from September 27 to October 12. The first artists have been announced for the festival, which will feature over 200 unique names from the world of jazz.
One of Türkiye’s most established jazz festivals, the Akbank Jazz Festival is preparing to host remarkable names from the global jazz scene in Istanbul for its 35th year. The first highly anticipated names for the festival, which will take place between September 27 and October 12, have been revealed. Organized by Akbank Sanat, a supporter of art in all its disciplines, and BKM, the first 8 announced names are as follows:
Brandee Younger, the Grammy-nominated and NAACP award-winning artist who redefines the sound of the contemporary harp with jazz; Bohren & Der Club of Gore, known as the pioneers of dark jazz and a cult favorite for their atmospheric intensity; pianist Joel Lyssarides and bouzouki master Georgios Prokopiou, who have garnered attention with their 2024 album on the ACT label, blending jazz and bouzouki with extraordinary naturalness; Enji, with her captivating vocals that merge Mongolian musical traditions with folk and jazz; RYMDEN, the trio of Bugge Wesseltoft, Magnus Öström, and Dan Berglund, one of the biggest sources of excitement in Scandinavian jazz in recent years; Jaubi, who freely navigate between classical North Indian music, modal jazz, and hip-hop aesthetics, and were featured on The Guardian's "best global albums" list; Kinga Głyk, the rising star of the European jazz scene and bass virtuoso, hailed as the "New Hope of Polish Jazz"; and the pianist and composer Aaron Parks and his band Little Big, a brilliant representative of genre-defying jazz with albums released on iconic labels such as Blue Note and ECM.
