The Award-Winning Films of 18th Akbank Short Film Festival at Universities

The award-winning films of the Akbank Short Film Festival, which aims to encourage short film production and has been one of the leading events in film sectors for 18 years in Turkey, will meet with young people at 41 universities in 28 provinces across Turkey between April 6 and May 18.

On this year of 18th Akbank Short Film Festival competition section applied 2,081 short films from 68 countries. The "Best Short Film" award in the National Competition was for I Gotta Look Good for the Apocalypse, directed by Ayçe Kartal, while the productions that received honorable mentions in this section were Stiletto by Can Merdan Doğan and Plastic Dream by Merve Bozcu. In the International Competition section, Adrian Moyse Dullin won the "Best Short Film" award for his film The Right Words, while the productions that were honored with special mention in this section were Olha Zhurba's Dad's Sneakers and director Hugo Covarrubias' Bestia.

In addition, for the first time in this year, in "Young Talents" competition created for directors under the age of 20, aimed to gather young people's interest in short films within the festival and to encourage productions in this field. In the “Young Talents” competion section, Baturay Tunçat awarded with his film Sunshine as the Best Film. Yunus Emre Akkuş’s film Silence and İlayda İşeri’s documentary The Fountain recieved mentions from the jury.
