Ahmet Ali Arslan “Manastır”
Ahmet Ali Arslan will bring the pastoral tones of his latest album Manastır to Moda All Saints Church on September 30. Making a premiere in Istanbul as part of the 35th Akbank Jazz Festival, this instrumental work is shaped by long recording sessions in nature and later enriched with contributions from fellow musicians. Joining Arslan on stage for this live performance are Muaz Ceyhan on yaylı tambur and lute, and Barış Yalaz on percussion, with special guest appearances by Barış Demirel, Berke Can Özcan, İdil Meşe, and Volkan İncüvez. Blending field recordings from across the Aegean with improvisational music, the concert will transform the spiritual atmosphere of Moda All Saints Church into a ritual-like experience, where extended tones intertwine with the album’s and the Aegean’s horizontal sonic textures.
