Alper Maral & Mert Topel – Control Voltage Project
Control Voltage Project is long-standing project of Alper Maral and Mert Topel. Alper Maral is one of the most important sound explorer of this geography with his auditory and academic studies in different fields of experimental electronic music and Mert Topel, who has been collaborating with different musicians for many years and launched his first solo album, Serendipity in 2017. The first album of their collaboration went back to 2015s, and the album has named from the electrical signals that are used for creating interacting between physical auditory layers.
The album is founded on immense sound pool of synthesizers, vocoders and tape recorders that have characterized different approaches and periods, like KORG MS 20, YAMAHA Motif 8, PROPHET 5 and TASCAM MS 16.The duo’s 12-track path stands out with its variety of abstract and naive moments of groovy and spooky sections. One of the most mindopening electronic music album of nowadays Turkey, Control Voltage Project release in vinyl format with the label of Mustesna Records fort he first time.
Maral and Topel, following the paths of heros, like Olivier Messiaen, Morton Subotnick, Suzanne Ciani, Edgard Varèse and Karlheinz Stockhausen has named their songs, like “Uranüs’te Bir Satürnlü”, “Mine’yi Korkutan Parça” or “Kurdeşen” as these names are promising how sounds in the album bring different connotations. This album, as a collaborative product of two inspiring musicians is nominated to be a bed-side album for electronic and acoustic music enthusiasts.
