All Night Jazz: Jitwam (DJ Set), Chez Damier (DJ Set), Grup Ses (DJ Set)
The 35th Akbank Jazz Festival returns to Frankhan for another night full of jazz infused sounds and dance, where the tempo will stay high all night long.
Jitwam (DJ Set)
India-born, Australia-raised multi-instrumentalist Jitwam has cemented his place in the lineage of great composers who merge global sounds with modern production techniques. Known for his signature blend of some of the warmest hip hop, R&B, house, jazz and soul infused psychedelia, Jitwam released his latest album, Third, on Roya / Warp Records in July 2022. Having shared the stage with artists such as Yussef Dayes and Hiatus Kaiyote, he is currently working on a trilogy of EPs that brings him together with friends and peers including Rimarkable, Nikki Nair and p-arallel. As one of the standout figures of the contemporary neo-soul movement, Jitwam will take the stage with his DJ set at the 35th Akbank Jazz Festival.
Chez Damier (DJ Set)
Already a legendary figure in electronic music, Chez Damier has played close witness to many of the pivotal moments in the history of house and techno. Chez Damier is a true deep house pioneer, responsible for both Prescription Records, widely recognised as one of the greatest house labels of all time, with studio partner Ron Trent, and "The Morning Factory", one of the most ethereal jams ever to rock a room. The Chicago DJ has also played pivotal roles in the development of KMS, The Music Institute and The Bellville Three, hallowed pieces of musical history.
Grup Ses (DJ Set)
Active since 2008, Grup Ses has so far released six albums in vinyl format, showcasing his distinctive cut-and-paste style. He has contributed to a number of reissue projects, and performed at festivals such as Le Guess Who? and Distortion. Spinning a selection of records from his personal archive, Grup Ses will take listeners on a 1.5-hour journey through genres like jazz, funk, krautrock, psychedelia, and post-punk.
Jitwam, Chez Damier and Grup Ses will bring their DJ sets to Frankhan on October 3, as part of the 35th Akbank Jazz Festival.
