Avalokiteshvara, 42’, 1983
On the occasion of a visit to Frankfurt by his Holiness the Dalai Lama to Frankfurt in 1982, Marina Abramovic and Frank Scheffer directed this documentary about his Holiness’ message for peace. The film compiles footage that presents a visit to the Lama Tsong Khapa Institute in Pomaia, Italy, and excerpts from his Holiness the Dalai Lama’s public talk in Frankfurt, and a meeting with an elder of the Hopi people. Their statements urged for the bridging of East and Western spiritual cultures and examines the mutual struggles for all human’s journey for spiritual freedom.
