İsmet Değirmenci was born in 1964 in Gündoğdu Village of Marmara Island. He graduated from Marmara University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Sculpture Department in 1991. He participated in many solo shows and group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad between 1994-2020. In 1995 he received XII. Esbank Yunus Emre Painting Award. Since 2002 he is working as a lecturer at Yeditepe University Fine Arts Faculty.
İsmet Değirmenci, wrote the boks entitled The Last Expedition: The Ancients of the Sea of Marmara (2021) and When Will the Ship Arrive? (2010).
