Jazz Clubs Night: Berkay Sümbül Quintet
Born in Adana in 2000, Berkay Sümbül was introduced to the drums during his high school years. While pursuing his undergraduate studies at Boğaziçi University, he became deeply engaged with jazz in Istanbul and continued his training through the Bahçeşehir University Jazz Certificate Program. In both 2023 and 2024, he was selected for the İKSV Young Jazz+ lineup and has since performed at major cultural events including the Istanbul Jazz Festival, Akra Jazz Festival, Mitrovica Jazz Festival, and Akbank Jazz Festival. He continues to play regularly at various venues across Istanbul. In 2024, Sümbül participated in the JAmZZ Masterclass, where his standout performance earned him a place at the 35th Akbank Jazz Festival. For this special appearance, he will take the stage with longtime collaborators to perform a set shaped by their shared inspirations. The Berkay Sümbül Quintet will perform on October 1 at Bova, as part of the Jazz Club Night within the 35th Akbank Jazz Festival.
