Jazz Clubs Night: Ömercan Şakar "Project OM 4.0"
Born in 1985, Ömercan Şakar was raised in Izmir and developed a profound love for music from a young age. His musical journey began with a classical guitar, gifted by his mother, and he later moved to drums, inspired by his father’s passion for jazz and blues. After collaborating with various musicians and participating in workshop programs in Turkey and across Europe, Şakar received a scholarship through The Virtual Drummer School to study at The Drummers Collective in New York City. He trained intensively with renowned drummers and musicians, including Peter Retzlaff, Ian Froman, Bob Quaranta, Joe Fitzgerald, Pat Petrillo, and Dan Weiss, one of his most admired drummers. Through his projects, which include Ömercan Şakar & Friends, Psychaudio, Sazakan, Re-Mind and Electro Dervishes, he reflects his dedication to the unifying power of sound. With his “Project OM 4.0” performance, Şakar will take the stage at Nardis on Friday, October 7 as part of the Jazz Club Night concerts of the 35th Akbank Jazz Festival.
