Jazz Clubs Night: Sinem İslamoğlu Group “Neo-Soul Vibes”
Sinem İslamoğlu began her music career in 1996 with the Hilton Jazz Orchestra and is a graduate of Bilkent University’s Department of Performing Arts, majoring in Theater. For over 20 years, she has taken part in projects that combine jazz and theater, and continues to perform with her band, Unit-y. A recipient of the Audience Award at the 8th Nardis Jazz Vocal Competition, İslamoğlu also represented Turkey at the Baku Jazz Festival. She was honored with the Best Supporting Actress Award at the Sadri Alışık Theater and Music Awards for her powerful vocal performances in musical plays. She received the same award in cinema at the 22nd Ankara Film Festival for her role in the movie Karbeyaz. With modern neo-soul sounds fused with jazz, emotionally expressive vocals, and a unique repertoire of covers from Robert Glasper, Brandy, Beady Belle, and Erykah Badu, İslamoğlu will perform at Pera 77 on Friday, October 7 as part of the Jazz Club Night concerts of the 35th Akbank Jazz Festival.
