Jazz Clubs Night: Yeşim Pekiner Quintet “Reflections on a Jade”
Much like classic jazz vocalists who merge the sensibility of early jazz with harmonic richness, Yeşim Pekiner channels her personal journey of the past 11 years into her album Reflections on a Jade. At its core, the album is a meditative introspection and a space for contemplation. Like light refracted through a jade stone, it captures the emotional reflections of the past as they resonate through Pekiner’s journey. The collection consists of pieces that gently and sincerely express love and affection for life and humanity. Alongside ballads by great masters such as Bob Dorough, Cy Coleman, and Thelonious Monk, the repertoire also features emotionally rich bossas by Brazilian composers Baden Powell and Nelson Cavaquinho. Yeşim Pekiner Quintet will bring Reflections on a Jade to life on stage on October 1 at Nardis Jazz Club, as part of the Jazz Club Night shows of the 35th Akbank Jazz Festival.
