Concept / Choreography: Korhan Basaran
A new process on questioning how cultural identity is formed, how being settled or unsettled affects the cultural base and how this reflects on behavior habits and movement.
We will be withdrawing information from the depths of the roots and the limitless skies forming the physical expression on the information received from the society and the knowledge gained from the earth.
Korhan Basaran holds a BA from Bilkent University’s Theater Department and an MBA in Art Management from Yeditepe University, he is the artistic director of his project based company RAu. Starting his dance career with Binnaz Dorkip in Turkey and after having completed a 10 year of a professional career, upon moving to NYC, he received a scholarship from the Cunningham Studio. He had the pleasure to dance with the Repertory Group of the Cunningham Company. He has studied and danced with various choreographers over the years in Istanbul and New York. Bringing out his voice has been his passion since the beginning. His works have been commissioned by Nimbus Dance Works, Mari Meade DC, Project 44, Boston Conservatory at Berklee in the US and MDT, Akbank Sanat, Tatbikat Sahnesi in Turkey. He is still in process with the Prometheus Dance of Boston, MA for an upcoming premiere of “Project RAu” in the Spring of 2019.
