"Curating Contemporary Art" Seminar Program

Seminar: From Genious to Celebrity: Entertainment Culture and Contemporary Art

Speaker: Ferhat Özgür

Time: 6:00-7:30 pm

A discussion based on Ernst Kris and Otto Kurz’s seminal book Legend, Myth, and Magic in the Image of the Artist aims to explore how the notions of genius, myth, and magic—central to early art historical studies—have evolved into the concept of fame in the global contemporary art world. Through visual examples, the talk will examine this transformation and the positioning of contemporary art within the entertainment culture.
