“From Freud’s Imago to Lacan’s Imaginary in the Mirror”

In the seminar, words in different languages that stand for “image” will be recalled (ikon, imago, bild), and the journey of the image in contemporary thought since the eighteenth century will be explored. Sartre’s interpretation of the subject–based onHusserl–as well as Bachelard, Freud, Lacan, and Heidegger’s understanding of imagination and the critiques directed at them will be discussed.
