Gevende Plays Unknown Songs
Gevende made a name for themselves in Eskişehir, which was then spread over Istanbul after their winning performance at Roxy Music Days. Their music can be defined as a blend of psychedelic-folk and jazz-rock, with lyrics written in a fabricated language. Following their highly-praised debut album “Ev”, the members of the band travelled to Iran, Pakistan, India and Nepal. The stories of these journeys and their concerts featuring local musicians were closely followed online. As part of the Sound Painting projects, Gevende worked with the French band Balbazar to form a large band featuring 25 musicians. Their second album featured the Norwegian guitar player Eivind Aarset as a guest musician. The band published their soundtrack for the award-winning video game ‘Monochroma’ and the recordings of their 2015 İstanbul Sent Antuan Church live performance, using an online platform.
