New Strategies & Tactics in Contemporary Practices

Speaker: Prof. Tansel Türkdoğan

Time: 6:00-7:30 pm

In the seminar Prof. Tansel Türkdoğan will make an evaluation on the current paradigm by examining the following: "concept of culture", "new art history evaluation", " the crisis of representation", "comparative" modernism "and" postmodernism "readings", "Necropolitics and cultural policies". An interactive “case study” on the different dynamics with an influence on art, will be made by concentrating on contemporary art practices and by examining certain books, artists and other samples.

Tansel Türkdoğan

Born in Antakya in 1966. He assumed Assoc. Prof. of Art title in 1998 and Professor in 2004. He leaded Fine Arts and Music Department Middle East Technical University as a chair between the years of 2000-2005 . He was invited to the Gazi University, Fine Arts Faculty as founder Dean and Professor of painting department and carries same position. He published "Contemporary Art", “Art Culture Politics” and has written many articles in art magazines and newspapers. Türkdoğan’s works can be seen in various public and private collections in Turkey and foreign countries. The artist artworks were shown in 25 solo exhibitions and several International mixed exhibitions , Curatorial studies , art projects and workshops in Turkey, USA, China, Italy, Iran, France, Germany, Belgium, China, Netherlands, Poland, Czech Republic, Romania, Georgia, Serbia, Hungary, Greece and Tunisia since 1989. He is also member of Koridoor Project.
