The Museum of Mistakes (Ages 7-12)
Workshop Coordinator: Merve Kireçtepe Salihoğlu
Time: 13:30 - 14:30
Is every mark in the making of an artwork under the artist's control? Can a mark that emerges by chance become a part of art?
In the Museum of Mistakes workshop, participants explore how artworks come into being and how chance, movement, and control come together in artists' creative processes. Drawing inspiration from Jackson Pollock's working method, they examine how spontaneous marks on a surface can be transformed into artistic expression.
Using the motion of pinwheels to create various marks on the surface, children observe and interpret the unexpected forms that emerge, then turn these marks into their own visual compositions.
The workshop investigates the relationship between control and chance through art, inviting children to discover unexpected outcomes and assign new meanings to the marks that appear.
