Art, Architecture and Cities From An Anthropomorphic Perspective

"Curating Contemporary Art" Seminar Program

Seminar: Art, Architecture and Cities From An Anthropomorphic Perspective

Speaker: Emre Zeytinoğlu

Time: 6:00-7:30 pm

This speech will be a continuation of the topic entitled "Culture and Ideology of Art", which we have discussed on November 14, 2024.

In the first part, we had focused on "optical theory" and "perspective" while talking about the overlaps and differences between the Arab Abbasid world and the Florentine Renaissance.

The "vision theory", which came to the fore with the "optical" approaches of Ibn al-Haytham (10th century AD) in the Arab Abbasid world, evolved into the perspective of the Florentine Renaissance (15th century AD) and ultimately formed the basis of "Western" painting. .

“2nd” will take place on December 9, 2024.

Chapter 2 will continue in the same context and this time will focus on the relations between "Western" painting and architecture.

The main points of the speech are determined as follows:

1- “Anthropomorphic” approaches (geometric proportions) in “Western” art and architecture

2- Architecture in the Islamic world (“optical theory” and geometry)

3- Separation of “design” and “construction” processes in “Western” architecture

4- Different understandings caused by "design" processes in "Western" architecture.

5- New trends and cities in architectural design and art
