José James

José James discovered jazz while switching through radio stations when he was a child and now he is considered as one of the leading vocalists and songwriters of the world today. He combines modern jazz, hip hop, soul and drum'n'bass. He graduated from the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York City, the school which trained jazz legends. The artist released his record “The Dreamer” in 2008. It was widely praised for its genuine sound that blends jazz, electronic, soul and pop music, and entered in the JazzTimes list. His album “No Beginning No End” won the “L’Académie du Jazz Grand Prix” for best Vocal Jazz Album of 2010, an award that is considered to be the Cannes of music. He will perform songs from his latest album “While You Were Sleeping” at the festival. Soul music singer Al Green and guitar virtuoso Jimi Hendrix are the main inspirations for the album and the album is viewed as the musician's most important album so far.
