K-Jazz: Sori Quartet

The scope of Korean jazz continues to expand as it attracts interest from around the world. Sori Quartet is an exciting ensemble of four adventurous Korean improvisers, each based in a different European city: Amsterdam, Berlin, London and Stuttgart. Consisting of drummer Sun-Mi Hong, vocalist Song Yi Jeon, daegum player Hyelim Kim, and pianist Gee Hye Lee, Sori Quartet’s improvisational approach to music has garnered them the love of many European audiences for their fresh material, incorporating the beauty of Korea into their music. The quartet's creative and innovative expressions also bring free improvisation to their colorful blend of jazz and traditional Korean music. A guest of the 34th Akbank Jazz Festival, Sori Quartet will be on Ses 1885 – Ortaoyuncular Tiyatrosu stage on October 9, Wednesday, with the valuable support of the Korean Embassy and the Korean Cultural Center.

Ayşegül Yeşilnil and Nezih Yeşilnil, who have been performing since the 1980s, have an adventurous journey in jazz through academia, and visual and plastic arts in addition to their roles as musicians and performers. They will be guests of the 34th Akbank Jazz Festival with their Jazzy, Rocky, Funky performance at Akbank Sanat on October 11.

Recognized as one of the most innovative musicians in the contemporary music scene, Tom Skinner will perform at the 34th Akbank Jazz Festival on Sunday, October 13, at Borusan Music House, in collaboration with Borusan Sanat.

Concert JAmZZ Project

Jamzz project aims to create space for new talents and support young musicians as a part of the 34th Akbank Jazz Festival. The special concert featuring Hakan Binbaşgil on piano, Ferit Odman on drums and Kağan Yıldız on doublebass will take place on October 17 at 20:00 at Babylon.
