K-Jazz: Sori Quartet
The scope of Korean jazz continues to expand as it attracts interest from around the world. Sori Quartet is an exciting ensemble of four adventurous Korean improvisers, each based in a different European city: Amsterdam, Berlin, London and Stuttgart. Consisting of drummer Sun-Mi Hong, vocalist Song Yi Jeon, daegum player Hyelim Kim, and pianist Gee Hye Lee, Sori Quartet’s improvisational approach to music has garnered them the love of many European audiences for their fresh material, incorporating the beauty of Korea into their music. The quartet's creative and innovative expressions also bring free improvisation to their colorful blend of jazz and traditional Korean music. A guest of the 34th Akbank Jazz Festival, Sori Quartet will be on Ses 1885 – Ortaoyuncular Tiyatrosu stage on October 9, Wednesday, with the valuable support of the Korean Embassy and the Korean Cultural Center.
