Mop Mop Feat. Anthony Joseph

Mop Mop is the brain-child of the Berlin-based Italian multi-instrumentalist, producer and composer Andrea Benini and his a decade-long exploration of styles. The resulting new post-modern style is one that fuses jazz with funk, Afrobeat and an exotic soundscape. Mop Mop drew such attention that soon they were commissioned to record a soundtrack for Woody Allen’s film To Rome With Love, which introduced them to the world of film industry, as well. Travelling to different imaginary planets in each album project, just like Sun Ra did, Mop Mop, in their fifth and final album, released from Agogo Records, Lunar Love, this time set their course towards our planet and to Mother Nature. Recorded in five different studios in Berlin and Ravenna, using fully vintage analogue equipment, the album (its remix to be released later on) tells the story of aliens, who left their planet “Adhara” –now totally destroyed by them– in quest of a new homeland, arriving on our earth. When listening to the music of the group, which is enriched by Gnawa rhythms, heavy dub, jazz, funk and the vocal of Anthony Joseph, a Trinidadian poet, novelist, academic and musician, you will have a very unique musical experience.
