"Purple is the Color” is the organic and serendipitous gathering of Simon Raab, Štěpán Flagar, Martin Kocian and Michał Wierzgoń, formed in 2015 at a jam session in Linz, Austria, on the crossroads of their school and career years. The band’s music borrows from the rich jazz quartet tradition, but does not shy away from incorporating elements of pop and folk music, weaving it all together into a modern soundscape, with a European sound, rooted in classical music, remaining as its dominant ingredient. What you’re going to hear tonight will be the freshest blend of meticulous European compositions and bold American improvisation.
