Improvised Voice Workshop with Saadet Türköz

Hour: 18.30 – 20.30

The voice is an instrument, we will experience how to express ourselves with it. We can draw various figures with our voice, sing with it, speak with it, cry, laugh, make funny sounds, and express every emotion with it. In the workshop, we will discover our voices with timbres solo and in groups. We can feel the presence of our body better through the sound channel. Within the scope of the workshop, we will feel the presence of our voice with body awareness.

About Saadet Türköz

Saadet Türköz lives in Zürich, is a vocal, and performance artist. Born in Istanbul in 1961, her first recordings were influenced by the folk music of her homeland, East Turkestan. Later her repertoire has widened to include improvised music and modern interpretations of Turkish and Kazakh music. In her works, she combines past and future, traditional and contemporary, dream and reality. Through the years she developed her own style of singing, which is both expressive, physical, archaic, and calm. In addition to solo performances, Türköz performs in duos, trios, and larger free-improvising formations. Throughout her career she has worked in various video-, theater-, film-, dance- and literary productions, collaborating with Pipilotti Rist, Muda Mathis, Anka Schmid, Gita Gsell, Mustafa Kaplan&Filiz Sızanlı, Ilma Rakusa, Elpida Orfanidou, Novoflot Opercompanie and many more.
