Art and Globalization

Seminar: Art and Globalization
Speaker: Emre Zeytinoğlu
About the Seminar: This seminar will particularly handle the definition of ‘art’ and ‘subject’ after 1990. The seminar will examine them within a new “world politics”, new “technological developments” and new “philosophical field”. During the seminar, the breaks and connections between “modern aesthetics” and “contemporary art” will be emphasized.

Part 1

Contemporary Art will be examined in terms of ‘world politics’ and ‘subject’. In the light of technological developments, it will be questioned through aesthetics, by specifying new opportunities.

Part 2

In the first part, examples will be shown on the given information. The relationship between these works will be discussed in the light of aesthetics and philosophical references. These relationships, starting with Greek Philosophy, will cover the field of ‘philosophy and art’ that emerged until now.

Part 3

In the final part, the examples will be reproduced and in the filed of informations which was given before, the examples will be discussed.

NOTE:

These seminars will be based on studied texts and not on “personal views.” The discussions will also be based on with reference to our readings but there will be some room for personal interpretations.
