"Curating Contemporary Art" Seminar Program

Seminar: On the Freedom of Artistic Expression and Creativity

Speaker: Turgut Tarhanlı

Time: 6:00-7:30 pm

In studies on human rights or freedoms in general, works related to different artistic forms of expression are generally characterized as products of freedom of expression. It is also possible to see this approach in legally normative practices on human rights at the international level. This phenomenon can be accepted as accurate to some extent. However, it is necessary to discuss that this definition has a deep dark side in the face of non-artistic forms of expression. The examination and meaning of the results of such an approach in the context of the political impact of artistic works constitute another aspect of the discussion on this problematic.
