"Curating Contemporary Art" Seminar Program

Seminar: History Of Exhibitions

Speaker: Prof. Dr. Marcus Graf

Time: 7:00-8:30 pm

While the history of art is around 70.000 years old, the history of the public exhibition begins around the mid of the 18th century. This special event of and for art went through numerous formal, and socio-cultural evolutions, which are always deeply connected to changes in art and society. That is the reason why the exhibition is a social event and its space is a social place where art and society meet. This seminar will present various exhibition models and reveal the history of the public exhibition until today.
