Telling a Film's Story in One Frame - Berkcan Okar

One of the most powerful ways to introduce a film to an audience is through an impactful poster design. A good poster is not only a visual element but also a strong tool that tells the essence, atmosphere, and story of the film in a single frame. So, how does a poster capture the audience? How do colors, typography, and composition convey an emotion? In this discussion, we will talk about the creation process of movie and TV series posters, how design meets storytelling, and the creative process behind unforgettable posters.

About Berkcan Okar

Berkcan Okar, born in 1989, completed his studies at Fort Hays State University in the United States before earning his undergraduate degree in Visual Communication Design from Bahçeşehir University. Okar has been a visual designer in the industry for over fifteen years.

He is the founder and creative director of Yer Creative, an award-winning design and idea agency that has created visual communication campaigns for many domestic and international films and TV projects in the culture, arts, and entertainment sectors, as well as over 200 album covers. His work includes promotional campaigns for numerous films and series, including Hayat, Atatürk, Arif V 216, Yeşilçam, Housewife, İlk ve Son, Invisible Heroes, Anonim, American Thief, Umami, Sully, Muhteşem Yüzyıl, and more.

In recent years, he won three different awards, including a gold in the Graphic Design Category, Printed/Poster at the prestigious International Design Awards in Los Angeles for three of his poster designs. Most recently, he won a gold award for the poster designs of National Geographic's 25 Liters project and BluTV's series İlk ve Son.
