"Curating Contemporary Art" Seminar Program
Seminar: Organising in the Field of Art in Turkey
Speaker: Saliha Yavuz
Time: 6:00-7:30 pm
In the seminar, examples of organizational models in the field of arts and culture from around the world, actions/impact of art workers in social events, and examples of activism will be presented. The presentation will also cover the historical and current state of organization in contexts such as associations, foundations, initiatives, forums, communities, groups, and/or unions in Turkey’s art sector, along with suggestions for possible models.
About Saliha Yavuz
Saliha Yavuz, a cultural manager, graduated from Yıldız Technical University Art and Design Faculty Art Management Program. She worked as a Studio Manager for the artist Taner Ceylan and project manager for Olympos Exhibitions between 2011-2022. She researches and gives seminars on artist rights, documents, initiatives and collectives, organisations in the field of art in Turkey, and the rights of art workers. Since 2005, she has been working as a cultural manager with institutions, individuals and non-profit organisations in Turkey and abroad in the field of culture and arts in the context of project management, coordination, content management, communication and curation. She is the co-founder of Hayy Open Space in Izmir founded in 2018, Archives and Projects Coordinator for ARD Collection since 2015 , one of the volunteer facilitators of the Omuz Solidarity Network (Omuz Dayanışma ve Paylaşım Ağı), Buradan Nereye? Forum Network, member of AICA Turkey (International Association of Art Critics).
