Views from the Ottoman Empire

Our search for the historical footage in the archives around the world continues. In this fourth edition, we will present films from five archives: Cineteca di Bologna, Danish Film Institute, Fondazione Cineteca Italiana, Library of Congress, and Jugoslovenska Kinoteka. The programme contains films from 1906 to 1926, including images of the occupation of Edirne by the Bulgarian army in 1913, the visit of the Serbian King Peter to Istanbul in 1910, and Sultan Mehmed Resad in Uskudar. Also remarkable is a staged documentary made in 1926 about the Danish missionary Karen Jeppe, whose memories are published in Turkish under the title Halep Siginma Evi; 1922-1927.
