What kind of a cultural evolution does humanity witness with the new media concept? In this context, how are we going to analyze and approach the brand new cultures that are evolving with the New Media? How will the current culture and art environment evolve into New Media? How are we going to deal with the fact of cyberspace, which was discussed a lot recently? Does the New Media need to be confined only as a medium of communication, or is there a new field of expression for art and the artist? Does the emojis and their usage, as a manifestation of the Hieroglyph Age in the 21st century, take the written communication culture of humanity in a different direction? How will Augmented Reality / Virtual Reality (AR / VR) technologies be shaping our culture and art experiences? What can these developments bring in the context of the labor-value problem in the context of the social life culture, particularly to people working in the arts and culture sector but also humanity in general?

Prof. Dr. Hasan Bülent Kahraman, Professor at Kadir Has University, Curator

He received academic degrees in Civil Engineering / Mathematics, Economics, Philosophy of Art and Political Science from national and international universities. He worked as a faculty member and manager at Bilkent, Sabancı and Kadir Has, Netkent, Michigan and Columbia Universities. He was the Ahmet Ertegun Professor at Princeton University. He is in the board of directors of Contemporary Istanbul Art Fair, Akbank Sanat, Sabancı Museum boards and in the advisory board of several universities. He organized many national and international artists’ exhibitions. He designed and implemented Abdullah Gül Presidential Museum. He was Artistic Director of Turkey Pavillion at Europalia Festival, Belgium. He held many exhibitions abroad.

He was the founder, curator and director of Sabancı University Kasa Gallery, Gallery KHAS at Kadir Has University. He was a member of the İKSV Istanbul Biennial Advisory Board for twelve years. He served as Senior Counsellor of the Presidency and Consultant for the Ministry of Culture. Author of nearly thirty books and numerous articles published nationally and internationally. Has many awards. As a cultural and political theorist, he shares his views in various columns and television programs.

The event is free of charge. Invitations available from the Akbank Sanat ticket office on the event day, one hour before the event begins.
