Istanbul is a topography wherelayers of history are aggregated in a single space so that the past present andthe future present are integrated in a practically crystal clear present. As amegalopolis, it has at the same time become one of the significant focaltransit points of the globalized world. This space is a topos that is traveledover, transited, that takes influence and influences, and is therefore a spacewhere many international works of art transit.
The exhibition is based on thistopos that is a transit point. It also carries importance in being a transitarea for the cosmopolitics of cultures. The cosmopolitan structure of the cityhas embraced foreigners since the times of the Stoics. Present-day istanbulalso stands before us as a space of transformation, transition, change,exchange, and alternation over time.
