The Shorts Section of the Ayvalık International Film Festival Comes to Ayvalık in Collaboration with Akbank Sanat!
Organized by the Seyir Association in collaboration with Ayvalık Municipality, the highly anticipated “Shorts” section of the Ayvalık International Film Festival will take place this year with the sponsorship of Akbank Sanat. Celebrating its 5th anniversary from September 14-20, the festival brings together short films from Türkiye and different regions around the world, focusing on contemporary examples of short film production.
The Ayvalık International Film Festival has placed great importance on its Shorts selection for the past four years, highlighting one of the most dynamic, innovative, and creative forms of cinema. This year, the festival’s Shorts section meets audiences with the sponsorship of Akbank Sanat. The Ayvalık International Film Festival further expands its scope with the contribution of Akbank Sanat, which has created significant opportunities for filmmakers through the Akbank Short Film Festival, which will be held for the 23rd time in 2027. Featuring a wide range of works, from debut films by emerging directors to short films by established filmmakers, the Shorts section aims to become an inspiring meeting point for cinema professionals, young filmmakers, and film enthusiasts.
Powerful Stories from Türkiye and World Cinema Meet in Ayvalık
For the first time this year, the Shorts selection, featuring films that stand out for their formal experimentation, bold narratives, and unique perspectives, will include not only prominent examples of short film production from Türkiye, but also internationally acclaimed short films reflecting the cultures and stories of diverse geographies. In doing so, the festival aims to create an international platform for exchange, discovery, and connection in the field of short filmmaking, while welcoming filmmakers from around the world.
Organized with the support of Akbank Sanat, which supports the development of short filmmaking and creative voices shaping the future of cinema, the screenings will offer audiences a rich viewing experience throughout the festival. Director Q&As and talk sessions following the screenings will bring audiences and filmmakers together to discuss the production processes behind the films, as well as current trends and developments in short filmmaking.
