"Georg Baselitz: The Last Decade" Exhibition Cinema Program

The New German Cinema program is set to engage film enthusiasts at Akbank Sanat with a selection prepared in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut Istanbul. This program is part of the Georg Baselitz: The Last Decade exhibition at Sakıp Sabancı Museum and Akbank Sanat.

New German Cinema addressed post-war Germany’s social and political transformations alongside the individual’s struggle with these changes. The films from this period deeply explore themes such as guilt, memory, identity, and social criticism while highlighting personal journeys and resistance against societal norms. The films featured in our program reveal the profound transformations of a nation and society, as well as individuals’ search for identity and meaning in a rapidly changing world.

To participate in the film screenings within the program, you can go to the event detail page of the screening you want to attend and create your registration via the "Register" button on the page. Registrations for each screening in the program will be opened on the event detail page of the relevant screening, 5 days before the event date and the "Register" button will become visible. All screenings are free of charge and participation is limited to 120 people.
