Shot entirely from an apartment on the 36th floor of a high-rise building, this experimental animation survey large parts of Hong Kong’s cityscape, emphasising the individual lives hidden inside its buildings. Recorded in 2020 and completed in 2023, the film attempts to encapsulate the darkness, confinement, and uncertainty of 2020.

CV

Max Hattler is an artist and academic working with abstract animation, video installation and audiovisual performance. He holds a Doctorate in Fine Art from the University of East London and currently lives in Hong Kong where he is an Associate Professor at School of Creative Media, City University Hong Kong.
