Yorgos Lanthimos was born in Greece. His sophomore film DOGTOOTH won the Un Certain Regard Prize at the 62nd Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for the Academy Award® for Best Foreign Language film. THE LOBSTER won the Jury Prize at the 68th Cannes Film Festival and received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay. THE KILLING OF A SACRED DEER won Best Screenplay at the 70th Cannes Film Festival. THE FAVOURITE received a leading ten Academy Award nominations in 2019.
