William Hong-xiao Wei is a third year PhD candidate in Film Studies at the University of Edinburgh. He is currently working on a thesis entitled “Contemporary Poetic Cinema through the lens of Chinese Aesthetic Theory”, which attempts to apply traditional Chinese lyric theories and aesthetic concepts to contemporary poetic films.
