ACT Night: Jakob Manz Young European Stars feat. Shuteen Erdenebaatar, Nils Kugelmann, Jakob Bänsch, Leo Asal
Working since 2017 to create artistic concepts, develop musicians’ careers and curate unique live formats, The ACT Agency is a guest at the 36th Akbank Jazz Festival with a special performance that brings together exciting talents from the new generation of jazz. ACT Night, taking place at Komünite on October 1, will host Young European Stars led by Jakob Manz—one of the most sought-after jazz musicians in Germany, with his inexhaustible melodic richness, which continues seamlessly from the composed themes into his ecstatic improvisations. The orchestra consists of Mongolian composer and pianist Shuteen Erdenebaatar, who carries her classical background into contemporary jazz; award-winning double bassist and composer Nils Kugelmann; young trumpeter Jakob Bänsch, whom the global music press compares to Wynton Marsalis; and drummer Leo Asal, who has a wide field of expression extending from jazz to hip-hop.
