Jazz Clubs Night: Rişe Özkan A Tribute to Sheila Jordan
Rişe Özkan, a graduate of the Boğaziçi University Department of International Relations and Political Science, pursued her musical journey professionally after working in corporate communications for 16 years. Following her classical piano and vocal training, she studied vocal technique with Randy Esen and jazz vocal at Caz Evi, and the Modern Music Academy. She was accepted into the Jazz Vocal Performance Master's Programme at William Paterson University in 2017. After graduating in 2019, she performed in New York and had the opportunity to work with notable names such as Sheila Jordan, Bill Charlap, Nancy Marano, and Aaron Goldberg. Rişe Özkan's performance will take place as part of the 36th Akbank Jazz Festival's Jazz Club Night events and is dedicated to her teacher and one of the greatest masters of jazz vocals, Sheila Jordan, who passed away in 2025. She will commemorate her idol with songs, memories, and excerpts from her life during this special performance at Asa Khai on September 29.
