Cochemea
For over 25 years, Cochemea has followed a unique path as a soloist, section player, and composer / arranger. His creative practice, spanning from his long tenure with Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings to to collaborations with names from diverse musical worlds such as Kevin Morby, Run The Jewels, Jon Batiste, Amy Winehouse, The Roots, Archie Shepp, Mark Ronson, and Quincy Jones, draws attention with its diversity that effortlessly navigates between genres. His latest album on Daptone Records, Vol. 3: Ancestros Futuros (2025), is the third volume in the series that includes All My Relations (2019) and Vol. 2: Baca Sewa (2021). Across his body of work, Cochemea interweaves the past, present, and future, engaging with time as speculative history—one that moves fluidly between memory and possibility. He will take the stage at Salon İKSV on October 3, as a guest of the 36th Akbank Jazz Festival.
