Mehmet Ikiz
Award winning Istanbul born drummer Mehmet Ikiz has toured and held workshops in 53 countries with artists & bands like Nils Landgren Funk Unit, Joe Sample, Bobby McFerrin, Barbara Hendricks, Ivan Lins, BBC Orchestra, NDR Big Band and many other bands and orchestras. Ikiz is based in Stockholm/Sweden since 1982 and has received 3 awards from the Swedish Royal Music Academy, Ikiz was chosen "Musician of the year" by the Swedish Radio in 2017 and was nominated for the same prize the year before. His first solo album "Checking In" was released 2012 and features magnificent musicians like Shai Maestro, Magnus Lindgren, China Moses, Nils Landgren, Joel Holmes & many more.
Zoetic Sessions was released in Sweden in June 2015. Ikiz appears on many albums & songs in different genres with artists from all over the world and his own releases has a mixed style from jazz to electronica. The last years Ikiz have been focusing on his solo project called "IKIZ 4/4” with 4 released singles as well as the bands "Ikiz Cabin Crew" (2 singles) & "Lahza" (full album).
