Helge Lien has proven himself a courageously brilliant jazz pianist and a composer, is not afraid to explore the borders between different genres. The musician formed the successful band Helge Lien Trio with Frode Berg and Knut Aalefjaer in 2009. Ever since the band continues to maintain their balance between jazz traditions and the avantgardist art of improvisation. Influenced by Bill Evans’ lyric-dynamic style of playing, and Keith Jarrett’s creativity Norwegian pianist Helge Lien has developed his very own unmistakeable style of trio playing. In 2008 Helge Lien Trio won the Norwegian Grammy for their album Hello Troll, and has achieved international acclaim.
