Book: Flâneuse: Women Walk the City in Paris, New York, Tokyo, Venice, and London - Lauren Elkin

Time: 18:30 - 19:45

Speaker: Manolya Maya

Moderator: Esra Ece Kuleci

In this gathering, we will meet with actress Manolya Maya to discuss Flâneuse: Women Walk the City in Paris, New York, Tokyo, Venice, and London, a key work at the intersection of feminism and the city. Starting from the book, we will talk about women walking in major metropolises, the sense of belonging, and ways of existing and producing in tune with the rhythm of the city.

Manolya Maya, after completing her undergraduate degree in Sociology at Istanbul University, began her master’s studies in Cinema at Bahçeşehir University. Throughout her university years, she worked as a film writer and editor for various institutions and collectives. She later moved into production, working as an assistant director on films by directors such as Emin Alper, Tayfun Pirselimoğlu, and Emine Emel Balcı. At the end of 2019, she began her acting career with Belmin Söylemez’s film Ayna Ayna. She continues to work as an actress, assistant director, and in production and screenwriting.
