Book Club on Creative Making
Book: “Yellowface” - R.F.Kuang
Time: 18:30 – 20.00
Speaker: Fatma Nur Kaptanoğlu
Moderator: Esra Ece Kuleci
In this session, together with writer Fatma Nur Kaptanoğlu, we will explore the dynamics of being an author in today’s literary world through R. F. Kuang’s novel Yellowface, which sharply examines the race for visibility within the literary sphere, debates around cultural appropriation, and the darker side of ambition. We will discuss how social media–driven competitiveness shapes a writer’s creative process and how these pressures can gradually pull an author into a more shadowed inner landscape.
Fatma Nur Kaptanoğlu was born on June 6, 1993, in Marmaris. She is a writer and artist based in Istanbul. She completed her undergraduate studies in Turkish Language and Literature at Eskişehir Osmangazi University, and her master’s degree in the Department of Art and Design – Plastic Arts.
